What is a labiaplasty ( Vulval surgery )  and what does it involve?

Labiaplasty is performed in the inner vaginal lips, called the labia minora, to minimize the size and appearance. At the same time, the outer vaginal lips, called the labia majora may be resculpted with fat injections or trimmed, but this is less frequently sought by patients.

The procedure can either be performed by trimming excess tissue and using dissolving sutures to close the edges or a wedge-shaped area can be trimmed on each side of the labia minora and joined to reduce the area within the outer labia. The result is smaller, significantly less pronounced inner labia and a more “tucked in” appearance.
